I realize for my 2001 Silverado they changed fob/part numbers that are not interchangeable. I have tried to program both types of fobs and neither work. I can get my truck in program mode easy enough, but then no response from fob when I attempt to program. I checked for a fuse and there is a relay associated with such a thing. I can feel a clicking in the relay so everything appears to be in working order on the truck's end. Am I missing something?

I just replaced mine with no issues. It did feel like I had to press the fob buttons for an eternity for them to sync though.
If all else fails , take it to a GOOD lock smith that does this kind of work .
Last 2 used cars we purchased , I ordered key fobs off the internet . Took the car & fob to the lock smith & he programed it .
Tried a bunch of stuff I located on the internet & never had any luck doing it myself .

Thanks for your responses. Just to clarify, the programming procedure is quite simple. I hold the buttons for quite a long time (I've done this with both types of fobs) and get no response.
