Found a thin N50 magnet on ebay, 4mm thick, 40mm x 24mm, .160" thick 1.6" x 1" , it has about 2mm clearance with the Derale filter adapter, should be a good setup on the next auto trans project.
Give it a try & see what happens. The only thing I see could be possible exit oil flow removing metal accumulated on the magnet & bringing it into the engine.

I'm a fan of https://www.shopfiltermag.com/ , some people do 2 one on each side. All of mine that I cut open have that same grey/brown goop shaped like the magnets. Mine is on the oil though. My Transmissions have a Magnefine in line filter.
Interesting topic, I always wanted to do a spin-on filter mod for my U340E transmission from the cooler lines, there doesn't seem to be enough space for me to find an optimal installation point for the filter base head.

You can do a DIY magnet setup for less and with more magnets than 2 filter mags will ever give you. Also did a SMCO disc magnet placement on the baseplate which works probably just as good as a ring magnet on the baseplate.
If I tried to put that many magnets on the filter, the mount would hit the ground from the extra weight, lol, but seriously, what does the filter weigh in at?

Are you doing a floating installation where its gonna hang on hoses? or have the filter base bolted somewhere?
It doesn't weigh that much, after prefilling the can with oil with the magnets, it gets to around 3-4 pounds heavy. I have the same setup on my engine oil filter currently. Takes about 38 magnets which are 2 x 1/4 x 1/8 in size, N42SH grade.
