The shortage of Redline SI-1 @ my local AAP has caused me to seek for an equivalent alternative.

Can you all make suggestions in terms of effectiveness?

Thanks

Call these people: http://www.cdoc.com/home.asp

They have Redline on sale at $58.92 for a case of 12. That's $4.91 each. Plus shipping, of course...

You have to call them, as the Redline is not on their web site.

No affiliation except that I am on their mailing list.

I believe AA is clearancing out the SI-1. I just picked up 7 bottles for about $1.73 each (half off clearance price). As an alternative, try Schaeffer's Neutra #131. You can get it from our on site sales representative. Min order is 4 gallons. I can't remember what I paid, but seems to be a bit over $3 per pint including shipping, but is delivered in gallon containers. You can order pint bottles, but it will cost more.

I got 8 bottles when AAP was clearing out I got it for $3.45 but I am still happy. In my are Jegs has it for $5.99. They also have it online for that price plus shipping.
Many people say that Techron will have good results cleaning your fuel system, I haven't tried it...

I like TRC's DZL-LENE XL/10 in both my gas passers and diesel engines. Shoot, I even use it in my home heating oil tank for the furnace. I buy it by the 6 gallon pail and it works out to about $3.37 per pint.

Hey, got any more info about that stuff? Like where and how to order? I found the site and it sounds interesting but I don't know what type of cleaning it does. Solvent, amine, etc...
This isn't like #131 is it? As in you have to be a several hundred dollar order.

I think they sell it in quart containers but I'm not sure what the price is on them. Like I said, I get it by the 6 gallon pail and got a nifty pump that goes on the pail and dispenses in measured amounts. I'm also not sure if they have a minimum order or not, never ran into that problem since I usually buy alot when I order. The rep I order from is in PA, I would drop them a email and inquire. [email protected] I think I got the phone number in the garage, but it's to cold to be walking out there in my socks this time of night.

I am in PA to, so perhaps the shipping won't be too killer if I order. I don't mind say a less than 100 min order, but anything over that and I will have storage issues

I live in an apartment and my room already looks pretty scary! There is a transmission in there right now!

Don't feel bad. I have a ISB 5.9 Cummins in my basement right now being overhauled (ran out of room in the garages). Let's just say the wife wouldn't let me put it in the living room, though I still don't understand why not.

The Amsoil Performance Improver (PI) works about the same and it even smells the same as the Redline SL-1. I typically use the PI but when I'm out of it I'll pick up a bottle of the SL-1 at Advance Auto and run that instead.

I was just at my local AAP and the manager indeed confirmed it that they will no longer carry SI-1. Sadly that was the main reason I went there.

Looks like I am down to only FP when it comes to adds that clean well AND have a noticable performance impact. I can't justify ordering Redline when even the cheaper places for it will still run me more than a gallon of FP.

Psudaytona,

You might have to visit a few stores as half the stores I went to were out. I did manage to get 22 bottles.

Holy cow. Wonder if this will turn into a "Find the SLOB" campaign we were all on during the summer

You can get 4 gallons of #131 for around $100 to $125 shipped. I just can't remember what I paid last time, but in that ballpark.

What about Gummout Regane and Chevron Tectron? I thought those were discussed on this site as being excellent products.

Robbie Alexander (who used to post on this site) is really into the DZL-LENE XL/10. I think the best price deal is the bucket, but can get in bottles.

There still is some SLOB out there if anyone is still hoarding the stuff.

Regane is a great cleaner. It just doesn't help performance like Redline or FP did. In fact usually while the car was on Regane it seemed a bit rougher. It would be smoother after the treatment but a tad rough while on. Techron I haven't found to be anything to write home about. And its too expensive for what it does IMO.

Only place near me that has SI-1 is Peppunks and I generally don't like going to those store. First, the redline is 7.99 a bottle and the employees in my area are the most ignorant fools I have encountered.

Guess I have a good reason to order more FP60 now! Woot!
