red from the dip stick

I had noticed this in the past but remembered to snap a pic today. The red smearsseem to be coming off of the rubber washers found at the top stick (09 GM 3.6L DI)

I wonder if this would be evident in a UOA, maybe as...red dye #7?

It for for sure does come off of the inside of the o-rings...'trapped' against the dipstick.

I would change that oil and filter - just because red doesn't naturally belong on an oil dipstick. Probably won' hurt anything leaving it in -- but changing the oil and filter is just something I would do in that same circumstance/situation.

I had seen this early on after taking delivery of this vehicle but thought nothing of it but by coincidence I have also done two very short UOAs in the past 6 weeks..interested in the break in #s. See here:
