Really Dumb I am sure: F250 Tranny ?

How many quarts of ATF does a 2WD 2004 F250SD take? It is the regular Ford automatic transmission. 5.4L V-8 Lariat Super Cap. The transmission is the 4R100.

I just purchased the truck last week and would like to do a full flush and fill with Amsoil ATF and of course a Wix filter. I have the Wix number that is Generated by the Amsoil website p/n 58968 but I need to know how many gallons of fluid to buy.

This truck does have a 5th wheel but I use the regular hitch for my landscape trailer. The previous owner towed horses.

Amsoil lists 6.5 for initial fill(pan) and 18 quarts for the 26 plate 4R100/ 17 quarts for the 4R100 20 plate total fill. Im not that familiar with ford products, so I have no idea as to if you have the 20 or the 26 plate in your truck.
