Picked up my new Racor filter this morning. I'll be using it on my Detroit 4-53T running wvo on a two tank system. Filter has a heated return fuel line
and an 200 watt heater element.

Is the heater for the WVO or to keep the water from freezing? The Racor filters used to be on most of the semis back in the day.

Electric heater for de-waxing on initial startup, with return fuel heat to keep it warm and flowing once it's running. They still manufacture many of the OEM fuel filter / water separators for heavy duty trucks to this day.

It's for wvo, I've installed and run the filter now for a couple of weeks and works great.

Any reason you went with Racor over Davco?

I really wanted the Davco, but the size stopped me from buying it. I just could not find the room to mount it. I was going for the model 382, but that's too large for a pickup frame mount and my engine bay is already too packed.
