Rate my plumbing work

It begins. The 4th of July weekend will be a plumbing extravaganza for me. No BBQ, no pool, no fireworks. Just me in the basement trying to get this filter setup mostly complete!

These shark bite fitting sure aren't cheap, and the price of copper, wow. No wonder everyone is using pex.

There are too many threads on this connector for the the rubber washer to bottom out and seal to the spin down strainer threads.

Would it be OK to add a second rubber washer for more height?

My current solution is to go from 3/4" copper to a corrugated stainless line with a 1" NPT to connect to the strainer.

Sharkbite .75 to 1 inch.webp

Great work so far, I really like it.
I would use an adapter to give you more threads.

It’s the little issues like this one, why I dislike plumbing work.

Something like this should work, I would not double gasket.

I just finished installing my water softener and the brine line needs an air gap by code.
Got one off Amazon and it says it has 1/2 inch barb fitting. The line on the softener shows 1/2, so I’m good, right? Not even close, one is ID the other OD and that’s not mentioned on the Amazon listing.
So now I need a barb 3/8 to 1/2 adapter and HD doesn’t have one. Amazon does but in the meantime I needed to tape the brine line to the drain so that the softener can do its regen.
Not a fan of plumbing work.

Update:

Working on flushing the iron remover, arsenic, and water softener tanks and finishing up the associated copper plumbing.

While I had the water off I replaced the well pressure tank gauge:

The original pressure tank is full of water, and it will not drain out of the bottom opening. 20 gallons x 8lb per gallon + body makes this tank likely over 200lbs which I cannot remove from the elevated crawl space.

#1 How would you get the water out? I'm thinking of drilling a hole through the bottom but am not sure if the water is inside the bladder or in the tank, which would require a super long bit.

#2 I got this lead-free 4" gage from Grainger as it would be easier to see the well pressure. The original gage is stuck at 25 psi.

Well it does not fit due to the shutoff valve and pressure switch. What is your opinion on using 90* elbows to move it out of the way?

Have you checked the tank's air fill on the top of the tank? If you press in the pin in the core does air or water come out when the pump shuts off? If water comes out the bladder is shot. Maybe all it needs is an air recharge.

The pressure gauges don't seem to last forever. Get a new one from Home Depot.

Professional plumbers won't guarantee their work if they are pushed to use a Sharkbite fitting.

What's wrong with CPVC?
