R.I.P. Ira Born

I remember as a small child my mother would always see that we had the appropriate accoutrements for the holidays. Easter brought out the coloring kits for the eggs, the rabbits foot to make tiny rabbit prints on the kitchen floor, the Easter baskets with fake grass and all of the candy and springtime dress that went with it.

Included in all of this were the yellow Peeps. How could I forget the yellow Peeps with fake grass sticking to them as they sat in the basket. I loved the malted milk eggs and jelly beans and chocolate bunnies with the requisite missing ear. I never learned to love the Peeps.

Peeps still show up at Easter to decorate the store shelves and bring back memories of my youthful years but now I will view them in a different light.

I hope we don’t see many imitation peeps
