Quiet morning in Southern California

Mountains to the East of us yesterday. Went on a little drive.

I never really realized how rural some areas of that state was. When I think of California I think of city and tall buildings lol.

Most of CA is mountainous. Like most of America, CA is a large land mass with populations centered around large cities.
Did you know, geographically, we are high desert? We are in the middle of another draught right now.
I live in Los Gatos in the Santa Clara Valley; the southern most city before you get into the Santa Cruz Mountains.
About 20 miles south, through the hills, is the beautiful surf town of Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz is a beautiful area. I am in more of a desert climate but 30 miles from beach.

Apple Valley was just on American Idol. It was poked fun of, A contestant is from there. he described it as rocky and sandy. The contestant works at United Rentals.

Accurate description. Lived there for about 20 years from the 80s-2000. People say it’s small but it’s a huge city in comparison to the 1980s-early 90s

Much of the CA northern coast is rocky and sandy. It's called the Rocky Coast. Very rugged. Cliffs to the ocean.
