Question about Redline Oils

I've probably exceeded my question limit for the day, but here's another one:

In a lot of the UOAs for RedLine, the higher wear numbers were attributed to either A) cleaning and/or B) leaky intakes letting in dirt and the ad-pack going to work to protect the newly "sand blasted" parts. (Mainly gathering this info from Terry's postings on the subject).

The cleaning bit is a good thing, but the ad-pack protecting but causing more wear numbers to show up is confusing me. Does this mean that the wear numbers are not as bad as the UOAs indicate to a layman?

Also, in using Redline, would more frequent filter changes and related top-up oil help in the first few OCIs?

Right now I don't have time to dig up past posts. This is an open question for lots of. One thing is that RedLine has the best base oil and lots of moly. Whether it translates into better wear numbers is another question. I have decided to mix a quart of the stuff into whtever oil I am using. There have been good results mixing RedLine and Mobil 1. I think in the coming year we'll have a better picture.

As far as more frequent filter changes on first few OCI's - unknown to me. It can't hurt. A better alternative might be to use AuroRx before going to the RedLine.

I am currently using Redline 5w30 and after alot of reasearch on this forum I am curious about the "cleaning action" of Redline also. Although I was told by a reputable source at a local shop that he has a customer that has run Redline in his truck at 10,000 OCI (may have changed filter and topped off at 5,000)and is at 150,000. If this is the case whatevever the Redline is doing, it seems to be providing excellent protection.

I thought about the AutoRx treatment, but that was after I had already put RedLine in (gotta love it when you think of something after the fact). It probably would have been a good idea.

Same situation here. A fellow storm spotter from Texas pointed me towards RedLine. He's been using it since he bought his truck new in 95. He uses anywhere from 10 - 12K miles OCIs, and had around 420,000 miles on it last time we ran into each other and it's doing great.

Then I came here and saw the UOAs that had people (except Terry) bad mouthing RedLine. Kinda made me do a double take on the whole situation.

I'm sticking with my choice to go with RedLine and am going ahead with frequent filter changes for the first OCI in anticipation of it's cleaning the engine out. Got the sample bottle sitting right here on my desk ready to go once this OCI hits 5K. I'll probably sample it in 5K intervals unless something comes up and causes me to either change it or sample it more often to keep an eye on something. Hopefully with this, I can setup a nice trend on how the Redline is doing in my engine over a year or two period. That should put my mind at ease.
