Umm..

So.. whats the story on the Quakerstate Q Vs PP..

Both Shell.. SOPUS.. and wow you get horsepower...!!!

There isnt too much chatter about the Quaker State Q Horsepower on the board. Im assuming a grp 3 as well, I don't know about the additive package?

Its on sale this week.. So thats one plus and they have awesome marketing.. Funny thing is the clear bottle varieties of Q synthetic seem to have alot of dust on the bottles. Must be the nutty selection confusing everyone.

Probably same stuff. GIII syn, dunno what the sale is, though. All the syns have been pretty high lately. I can't imagine QS Horsepower or the truck or the Torquepower brands are so terribly different from PP given they're all from the same plants once you get past the bottling and [censored] HP, Q-Power claims. Shell bought QS, maybe they're stuck with the same crummy advertising mopes that dreamed up the whole "Advanced Molecule" rap with the gear artwork on the labels. Nonetheless, Shell is a fine company, they do a pretty good job of disclosure on their product, AND, their gasolines are Top-Tier. Beats the stew outta ExxonMobil who market and sell garbage dressed as quality.

Meanwhile, I've been surprised not to see anything above conventional on the shelves in the Havoline lineup myself. I still mourn the loss of the old moly-rich, long-life conventional Havoline. I've never bought so much as a quart of Havoline since they changed over to high-calcium. The packaging and labels suck too, even if the oil within is adequate. Wonder how the brand is doing these days, anyone know?

It's a good oil and if the price is right, give it a try. I never understood all of the different labels QS had even when I worked there. The only thing Platinum and Quaker State Synthetics have in common are they are both made by Shell. Other than that they are totally different products from the type of Group III used to the additive packages.

And if you don't like the marketing they use send them a email and tell them, then spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

I'm on my second interval of QS Torque power that I run for 5k in our 2003 Toyota Sienna. I'll be having Blackstone look at this oil and will post it to the used oil analysis forum.

In both cases, I was able to buy 5 quarts for about $2.50 after rebate! (50 cents a quart!) This deal was at Menards.

I see they have a sale on it once again, but not as hot as the last time around. $11.88 after rebate for a 6 pack of Torque Power or Horsepower QS.

Still $1.98 per quart ain't bad for any quality oil.
