For my parents 1993 Olds Ninety-Eight I had to use an oil change without Royal Purple or Mobil 1
available. The Sears shelf had Castrol Syntec and Quaker State Synthetic.

I have done some reading on how Castrol Syntec "SABOTAGED" the legal definition of what a synthetic is via thier hydroisomerization process

Does anyone know the formulation legitimacy of Quaker States synthetic?

Thanks -

Well as of their latest MSDS (6/02) it still uses a PAO basestock. Their MSDS might not be right, and/or they may have changed it before updating their MSDS.

I will make a few phone calls to see if I can get someone to wake up and update this MSDS sheet. I can assure you that the Quaker State Full Synthetic is a Group III oil.

And how are you so sure? Do you have inside information?
