Any opinions on this oil? I was thinking of using it in my Geo Prizm.Pep Boys has it on sale for $1.09 a quart.Is it the same as the old QS,known to cause sludge?

The AutoZone by me has 6 quart jugs of Quaker State dino for $5 and there is attached a rebate for a $5 Shell gas card. I just saw 20+ jugs at my local AZ. Free oil! Same stuff you are looking at for $1.09 a quart. Go for it. I think you can do two rebates per household, look at the form because I don't remember when it expires, but pretty sure it is still good. Think it was March 15 or April.

Smaller 5 qt jugs of the same were $7.72 at Walmart.

The sludge thing was from a bygone era, now probably it is an urban legend. Oils have improved a lot since those days.

Free QS oil? there wasn't anything posted about this in the rebate forum. btw, I got pennzoil last thanksgiving and used the $5 gas card rebate. it's been three months and I haven't recevied the gas card yet.

Johnny has commented on this quite a few times if you care to search. He says is ok stuff, so I'd believe that.

He says is ok stuff (QS), so I'd believe that
=================================================

Here in Lower Michigan, QS sells at premium dino prices.

I then would assume that QS is not just OK oil.... but premium oil. I would think that the next lower ladder of that Family of Oils... ie... Wolfs Head or Shell Formula... would be considered local priced ... or "OK" oil.

QS usually sells at a premium here too. I think it's a brand name recognition thing. QS is something like the #2 seller in the country, so they can get it. I don't really consider Formula Shell to be a step down, just a marketing thing.

I just wait for the PZ sales anyway.

oh ya, I remember the title of that thread. I bet it would have got more attention with "free QS after rebate"

I would take up on that offer but cutting the jug? I'll stop by autozone to see if there is a ring on the seal. I just changed oil two days ago and threw away an empty 5 qt pennzoil HM jug too.
