NHGUY - The SAE30 used was a HD (HDEO) lubricant!

Any diesel straight weight is probably fine. Those motors are dry sump, use old mechanical direct fuel injection, and dilute the oil.

The fuel injection system was developed for this...

Later in the show, they did mention the car's mechanical injection and fuel dilution issues with the engine.

I believe BMW built the engine in the Stuka dive bombers.

Imagine trying to keep fuel delivered in those multi-g near vertical dives.
