This filter came of my friends 2001 Buick Park Avenue Ultra awhile back. Had about 8k on it. Drain back had tears in it and end cap came off with a light tug.

Geesh! I have a 98 lesabre.I want too use a pureone, next change I do..it uses, the same filter,10111. When purpose of redesigned everything, what 2013? The years in media started.didn't major take over purolator? It's so sad, because it's excellent filtering. Choices are running slim now,for 99%@20um. Bosch black filter. I don't trust frams. Project farm, tested a bunch of air filters, and the too performer, for stopping contaminants entering, was wix.then outdone air filter.then a.c. dElco.fram, was not really so good. The point? For imagine, their oil filters, army as good either.claims and advertising too deceive into buying their products. I don't believe, the tough guard,is as good as 99%@20um either. Purpose of does...but...the tears. Particle count tests...

Man,. I do my changes about every 4000 miles,6 months. Oil just turn thick black on dipstick by then. Purolator used too claim,website,3,000 miles. Seems they cover th I we butt, without spending money.like,as too fix the testing issues.and now,the anti drawback tearing.seen it in another members post pics.on a pureone. Napa holds very good, but 95%@20um. Many say a.c. Delco have gone downhill.way of china.it's getting slim pickings out thier. SUpertech, was a good filter.cut one open 6 months ago.3,800 miles on it. It was fully intact inside.so perfect blows percolator outta the water.sad, isn't it???

I don't think think,the pureone was meant,too run past 4,000 miles tops..

I've gone 12k on PureOnes in my silverado.

I was raised on Purolator filters but some of the C&Ps are concerning on here. Are the drainback cuts somehow associated with the disassembly?

Thanks for cnp

They can be run up to 15K.

They were previously rated for 10k. Purolator has updated their website very recently. Maybe a change in design or just a marketing change .

No, those cuts are clearly due to the sharp hole edges cutting into the ADBV while the filter is together as an assembly.

I've used the New Blue can on the Corolla a couple OCI's ago I think it was over 6K miles it looked great. But off and on I've used the Purolator's on the Corolla since just before 2010 I've yet to have a bad one. I didn't look but I'm sure I posted a C&P on this Blue Can.

That's cool! Their wrbsite, used too advertise 3,000 miles, pureone. Some of others here, thought it was insurance for purolator, meaning, they knew of the tears, but too cover their butts,do 3,000 miles oil changes anyways.

Purolator has stated, for years, via their customer service, that NONE of their filters are rated past 3000 miles, even including their synthetic media filters, regardless of manufacturer recommended OCIs. I asked them years ago about the D3520 D+ filters going the Dodge recommended 10K OCI on a Cummins-they told me 3000 miles, that’s it. The ongoing ADBV cuts are (STILL) the result of not deburring the base plates after punching the oval holes, Mann assumes that since the customer can’t feel or see the sloppy machine work without cutting the filter open, it doesn’t matter. But, hey, no engines have IMMEDIATELY blown up due to these flaws-so, move along, nothing to see here...:poop:

Sounds like the person at Purolator didn't know what they were talking about. I don't ever recall the 3K OCI thing being stated by Purolator, or any other filter maker for that matter. Their website doesn't show anything like that now.

See the Oil Change Interval near bottom of the page - 20K, 15K and 10K miles.

Warranty - they wouldn't warranty the fitter for the vehicle manufacturer's service recommendation if the filter couldn't handle it.

So your saying that Purolator Boss oil filter that's currently on our Ford Escape is only good for 3000 miles !? 😂

Nice but I don't believe anything about your post.

I think,Bullwinkle is correct,regarding the abdv. I've seen only a few pics here,2 cuts,tea r s,in the orange. What Bullwinkle said,makes sense. Now one today,builds quality.it's all about lowest bidder,shady assembly,pot metal,and profits.that's business.
