This filter was ran on my father's 1987 John Deere Lawn mower for 1 mowing season. I can't remember the part number off the top of my head (I took these pictures a couple months ago also). As soon as I attempted to remove the filter element from the can the top end cap fell off, this is the first time I took pictures of a Purolator end cap coming off but it's not the first time it's happened.

Why is it annoying?

If the filter was designed to be disassembled and reassembled I could see being annoyed.
Just due to personal preference mainly, I've seen worse pictures of end caps becoming detached on Purolator filters before, here's a picture of a fl820S that somebody else has posted here.
