I just bought a Purolator (Premium Plus, but it no longer says that on the new package) L25230 for my sister's ZX2 and it says on the box that the gasket is internally lubricated. I felt it with my finger and it felt slightly greasy already. Should I still bother putting oil on it before putting it on the engine, or is this internal lubrication good enough? Anyone have any experience with these new Purolators?

Yep, I'd put just a thin layer of that PYB 5w20 you got with the Puro filter. Then pour in that 5w20 in that back spec'd Escort, and the engine and your sister will thank you.

If you had any doubts, (which you shouldn't) read this thread here for some real world commercial truck fleet experience, starting with poster Bryanccfshr.

Use with confidence.

Thanks for the link, and I decided to lubricate the gasket just in case
