Approx 5200 miles off my Pontiac vibe, looks good, no tears. This was last classic in my stash:

Replaced with this jobber, will run for 5k

Looks good. Thanks for the c&p

Probably because there is a LOT of surface area compared to a "Relatively low flow GPM" oil pump in his Vibe.

Looks like the metal end cap came unglued. Hopefully, that Gordon idiot won't chime in with some more phoney malarky anout your Purolator.

Good to get a reminder of another fairly recent Purolator defect/manufacturing goof, popping off end caps. Usually it's just about the Big Three, tearing media, closed louvers, and cut ADBV's.

Detached end caps don't seem like a huge problem. While the filter is assembled, the end cap will still remain in the proper place. The adhesive is also providing a seal on the edge of the pleats. Some filters like the OE Toyota filters have no end caps at all.

It does kind of prove FRAM's point though that fiber end caps bond more reliably to fiber material. This fault has been seen on other filters, including this Denso aftermarket model: https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2935601
