Good to get a reminder of another fairly recent Purolator defect/manufacturing goof, popping off end caps. Usually it's just about the Big Three, tearing media, closed louvers, and cut ADBV's.

Detached end caps don't seem like a huge problem. While the filter is assembled, the end cap will still remain in the proper place. The adhesive is also providing a seal on the edge of the pleats. Some filters like the OE Toyota filters have no end caps at all.
