Purolator boss, 6800 miles, 392 Hemi on Redline 0w40

i haven’t posted any filter pics in a few years because I’ve been running Royal Purple wire-backed synthetic media filters on everything, and they always look exactly the same: just like new, only wet with oil.

but last time around I was short a filter and decided to try a Boss for the first time since Purolator revamped and redesigned their lines. I think it’s on the “I’d use this any time” list along with RP and Fram Ultra. Definitely none of the uneven pleats from the period when torn media was a problem, and dang that baseplate is serious beef.

Yeah the Purolator Boss filters are very well made and heavy. The efficiency has been bumped up to 99 percent at 25 microns. Not too shabby either.

The Boss never had problems with torn media, but they do sometimes have a slit in the ADBV

I went back and looked at the base plate pic. It looks like Purolator figured it out and is now grinding down the excess steel from the stamping process.
OP, thanks for the C&P. I too would run the Boss after seeing this great looking filter.
