Puro classic L24651 cut open. Torn?? Read and see!

Purchased this filter a long time ago - maybe 2 years. Put it on the Taurus in Sept 2013. Ran it for 11 months/7500 miles. Blackstone UOA for this run is here.

Didn't get around to opening the can until last night because I couldn't find my Dremel.

Manufacturer code for this filter is F07E24G2.

Here are the pics:

Yes, wavy pleats on either side of the seam but no tears that I could find. Seam looked a little strange but didn't see any holes, rips or tears. Tried pulling the seam apart and couldn't really do it.

Inside the can was sandy, gritty oil. Black rubbery thing (nitrile ADBV?) was still very pliable.

I think 2 years ago they did not have a problem with tears.

Actually it turns out I was wrong about when I bought it. The "E" date code corresponds to 2013 manufacturing year. So it was made the same year I put it on the car.

Although there have been 1 million threads on this topic, I really haven't followed this that closely. That said, iirc, the filters that tear have the metal crimp, not the glued seam like this filter.

WOW no tears ???
Those wavy pleats don't look so great though.
