A mate of mine tells me that his brother uses pure jamaican pimento oil to loosen (free) rusted nuts, bolts and other fasteners on oil rigs. He claims that the stuff costing around $25 per litre works very quickly and is also excellent for rust-protecting machinery and equipment exposed to very moist and humid environment. According to him, all it takes is a mere drop of the oil to free the most rusted fastener.

Has anyone used this stuff for the purpose mentioned above (other than as a food seasoning or spice ;-) ? I think it is also known as "Allspice oil". Being heavier than water it works as a good water displacer.

I read somewhere it is the main ingredient in Omega 636.
