Problem with over-filled power steering?

Will I hurt anything if I over filled my power steering resevoir?
I got off the road after a 5 hour trip. Temp was 40 degress and the power steering was not up to the hot mark so I filled up to the hot. Then I began to wonder if it wasn't up that hight because it was hot enough outside???

i would think after 5 hours it would be hot.

Worst case scenario - the fluid will overflow from the reservoir when PSF heats up. Technically it is not a problem. However if oil gets on some hoses and belts, they may have to be replaced sooner rather than later.

I'd leave a lil air space for expansion and contraction and for the pulses of pressure coming through the system. That is, if filled to the very top, it could and would overflow. Hot vs cold marks are a non-issue and a tiny overfill is nothing.

As long as it never overflows, it's OK.
