Absolutely.

Helen does a great job. It costs $$ to keep up the site. I doubt that sponsors cover it all.

I get a lot of value from the discussion on BITOG, I'm happy to kick in a few $$ for support.

You can if you want to, but from my armchair look at the sites financial model

Sponsors have it covered

If Helen would like to clarify how much money she may be losing on the site, that'd probably reflect donations.

Since the site has went to sponsors and advertising banners?

The site has always had sponsors as long as I recall. The sponsors get a banner and a QA type interaction with the users, but youll notice that there is no blatant interaction of salespeople with the threads. Some products go in and out of vogue, but there really is no pushing of any product by the site or any sponsor.

I have no financial interest in the site or its operations, but realize that nobody is demanding a donation to be here. If, however, you find that the involvement and discussion is valuable, you should look into your heart to decide if a donation is prudent, not whether or not youre owed a freebie being on here due to advertising banners.

JHZR2,

If memory serves, back in the day There was no banner at the top of the forum list.

I have accidentally clicked on the banner numerous times trying to hit the 'my stuff" clicker.

Anyway, even though I recall a time of zero advertisement, im thinking pre-2013, you have many more posts and were here almost five years before me, so maybe i just do not remember correctly.

Here's an idea. Often, someone will post a recommendation to a product (usually a tool) with an Amazon link. Write some code to modify these Amazon links to append affiliate info to generate some revenue for BITOG.
