PP 5W30, 7805 miles, 07 Nissan Murano VQ35DE V-6

Greetings Below is the latest UOA from my 07 Nissan Murano with the VQ35DE DOHC V-6 engine. This cycle included a Hastings oil filter and an AFE Pro Dry air filter. My driving environment is centered in coastal South Carolina with regular interstate trips to S.W. Florida and Wash. D.C. I am the original owner and have had a UOA completed by Blackstone Labs on each oil change since the factory fill was dumped at 3K miles. Thanks for looking.

Dang that is one nice wearing VQ35. My folks VQ30 is about to get PP 5w30 for the winter. Should be happy as can be on that stuff.

Very good UOA's and a great oil. PP seems highly resistant to shear, I have noticed that on many UOA's from this oil, this is an engine known to shear oil some. Excellent engine!!!

I am perplexed about their comment that the silicon is from a harmless source. How did they, conclude that? Wear metals? Silicon can be from gasket sealer or antifreeze (if it has silicates) or dirt. Have you had any work done where gasket sealer was used? A good UOA. How much is Blackstone these days? Need the TBN. I use PP or PU (if Walyworld has PU).

Have you had any work done where gasket sealer was used? Blackstone has the benefit of reviewing all the UOA's on this engine since 2007. Silicon has been a nagging indicator since the outset. Take for example the silicon reading on the previous UOA, 12 ppm versus 22 ppm on the current UOA. There was no change or any disturbing of the air induction system for over 15K miles. No engine work at all, just oil and oil filter change. A good UOA. How much is Blackstone these days? Need the TBN. Standard analysis is $25. TBN is an additional $10. I use PP or PU (if Walyworld has PU).

To put on almost 8k in 3 months you must be on the highway constantly. Those are very easy miles and should be considered when looking at UOA's.
