Never considered the "mold removal" benefit as here in Oklahoma, mold doesn't stand a chance. I will say with my 13hp honda washer, you put that on pin point, it will take chunks out of your concrete. I tell you what would be really cool. If there was a way you could put on attachments to the engine part. Like a chipper shreader that hooks directly to where the water pressuring unit bolts to.

A guy who once owned and ran a power washing business advised me thus:
"Forget about PSI. Flow is what matters. If it doesn't do at least 2 and better yet 3 gallons per minute, don't even bother with it."

That's misleading. Pressure determines what the washer can do, flow determine how fast it can do it.
I have had good results with my "Pressure Wave" power washer from Sam's Club. It is built by deVilbiss (who makes Excell and other brands) and has a Honda GC160 5.5 hp OHC engine and 2500psi.
I bought it with extended 4-yr warranty w/ tax for about $350.
This is about the minimum specs on a washer you should get (psi, hp, gpm, etc etc).
Once you own one, you will be glad you bought it!

Do you know the brand of pump used in your unit? can the pump oil be changed?
The Honda GC engine is an "inferior" engine by design, as compared to the industrial GX but there has been plenty good said about it too; how much use does a tank of fuel get you? Id assume it can run a LONG time. Engines dont really matter much in power washers as I understand it, though having an inefficient pig can be a nightmare. Im still trying to gauge consumption on mine.

CAT makes an excellent pump, we've been using them in our carwashes for about 35 years. they last a long time and are super easy to rebuild. our setup has 3HP 3ph motors using a triple V belt drive to the cat pump. pressure is intentionally turned down to 1500PSI (pumps can do ~2200) because above that and you're pealing paint off of cars.
we've also got a honda 13hp gas unit (2500PSI) with a comet pump because it's just handy to have around, it works great for cleaning masonry, etc.
3 things if you're getting a pressure washer.
1. Buy a gas powered unit only.
2. Water pressure regulator (if the PW is resasonbly priced, these units are usually high end).
3. Buy a surface cleaner attachment. Here's cheap non professional one I got at Lowes. Totally awesome and makes doing driveways/sidewalks a real breeze.

wow, $75/day before or after tax???
It makes sense for doing a house one in 15 years, but if you want to use it regularly, at such prices it sure seems worth it to buy!!!
