Pour points of Castrol Syntec blend oils?

Someone here posted data sheets, however, they are likely out of date, since the stuff on the shelf now is SM. I changed oil this weekend with Syntec Blend 10W-30, and I compared new SM and SL oils. The new SM has a slightly different color, and a different smell, so obviously it is not exactly the same.

When the look and smell change it makes you wonder what they did to the oil as far as protecting your engine.It has to start over with new UOA's to compare them with your old one if you used the GF-3 SL oil that has proven to be a very good oil.But someone has to take the plunge so we can compare.

Tell me about it. I was very happy with my recent UOA of Syntec Blend (first one with this oil), and now it seems everything has changed.

I hope it gets better with newer spec sheets. both Valvoline Durablend 10w30 and 10w40 have pour points of -39C (according to their July 03 data sheets).

What I find even more disturbing about Syntec Blend (and GTX for that matter), is what appears to this old cowboy to be a fairly low flash point;

Syntec Blend 10w-30: 415 dgerees F

Syntec Blend 10w-40: 415 degrees F

GTX 10w-30: 415 degrees F

GTX 5w-30: 400 degrees F

Hopefully, the newer formulations will have better performance.

Thanks

According to product spec sheets sent to me by Castrol USA, the pour points are as follows:

Syntec Blend 10w-30: -33 degrees C

Syntec Blend 10w-40: -30 degrees C.

Note: this product sheet is dated June 2002, and I have asked for updated sheets. I will post new data if and when I get them.

Thanx
