That's a real Frankenbrew lol... Just using up oil or is this like the Colonel's secret recipe? I have a 2012 2550 as well, so asking for a friend. :ROFLMAO:

Just my $0.02

Just using up open jugs of oil I had on hand. It’s all 40 weight and this will probably be a 5k run with the High Performance Lubricants Engine Cleaner. I probably have 11 more unopened gallons of 5w40 on the shelf.

I didn't want to start a whole new thread on this..... But if Diesel and European formulated oils are better, and so much more, "heavy duty", why not use them for everything? Diesels have high compression that places greater loads on connecting rod and crankshaft bearings. And the Europeans are famous for driving 300 MPH on the Autobahn for days on end.

So why are we screwing around with all of these "normal" oils for our puddle jumpers?
I use nothing but various 15W-40's in my whole Japanese fleet. I am a BIG proponent of HDEO's in gas burners. Check out any of my Blackstone UOA's I have posted. Delvac 1300 12500 to 15,000 miles OCI's and good to go. No issues with the variable valve timing systems and my Mazda/Ford duratec engines burn lots less HDEO's than they do the the 5W-20 swill the manual recommends.

How do you like the Mystik JT8? Any reason for 15w50? I’ve got 12 gallons of 15w40 cued up for future changes on my Cummins Ram.

BTW nice looking rig!

Just my $0.02
I like it a lot, I like the 15w50 because I get a better OCI with it, my CAT lets me know when the oil is finished because I will start getting a little more blow by, it takes longer with the 50 than the 40. If that makes sense.

The 6.7 Cummins is the most un-fussy engine on the planet when it comes to oil. IMO, you're good to go for another 300 hours.

Did the little 318G skid steer again today. Previous oil change was at the 285 hour mark to get out the break in and then today was to get her back on track at 505 hours.

Out was the mix of 10w30 and 0w40 and an Asian JD filter. In went Co-op DMO group 4 0w40 and the same JD filter. I couldn't find a compatible Napa gold or Baldwin/Hastings oil filter locally so I settled for the same old.
