Title says it all. I plan to tackle a small rust spot on my fiance's car sometime in the upcoming weeks. Past experience has shown that when the damaged metal feels thin, it will probably give in when sanded, so in preparation for that I am looking for a quality filler for the hole that may result. Looking for any input from those who have used Resto-Grip and can compare it to Bondo filler, or similar products.

If the metal is so thin that it will punch through when sanded, a patch brazed or welded, once the rusted area is cut out, would be the "best" solution. Resto Grip will work if a backing surface such as fiberglass mesh or sheet metal is attached on the inner surface of the damaged panel area to make a boundry surface for the Resto Grip to adhere to, then finish with a Bondo type surface filler. However, rust through will show up again because the damaged area was not removed.
