i've used mobil 1 quite a bit over the years and base OCI loosely on pan capacity and fuel economy:

Assuming a rather standard 4-5 quart sump capacity:

20 MPG OCI 5,000 miles
30 MPG OCI 7,500 miles
40 MPG OCI 10,000 miles

On my Ford diesel sump capacity is 15 quarts, the truck gets about 19 MPG in my driving cycle and I change the Delo 400 15W40 @ 10,000 miles.

All the engines are used mostly highway in so. CA conditions, few cold starts but frequent hot weather. None of the engines have sludge or varnish deposits (as long as I've maintained the vehicle since it was new).

Vehicle: 2002 honda civic ex 5 speed manual coupe

Oil: Mobil 1 0w20

Oil Change Interval: 6 months or 6-6500 miles, whichever comes first.

97 Ford F-150 Lariat 4.6L 2V SOHC
Mobil 1 10W30
5,000 mile OCI w/ 208,357 miles on the odometer.
Still going strong with virtually no compression loss.

97 Grand Am 2.4 DOHC ~ 86,000 miles.

Mobil 1 10-30 every 5-6 months w/ a SuperTech filter. I do alot of short trips, so this equates out to about 3,000 miles.

Sometimes I can't wait the 6 months and change it out after 4.

Especially when it smells more like fuel than oil.

It has gotten changes at 6K miles twice with mobil one and so far has a little over 10K miles(going to 15K) on the M1 which is in it now. Probably going to go with 10K miles OCI.
