What oil would be a good choice to use for this 4 stroke engine? Filter too? (2012 500HO sportsman)..

I have used Mobil 1 0w-40 and Shell Rottela 5w-40. Both have worked well for the 25 hour service interval I use.

In Alaska I used Rotella 15w-40 in the summer and T6 5w-40 in the winter. 400 H.O. never missed a beat on bear/caribou hunts.

I run Amsoil Power Sports 0w-40 in the Polaris 700 Twin. Excellent oil.

I would never run a fram but i did find a Napa Gold for it.. & some Shell Rotella T-6 5W40 Synthetic oil ... All for under $30.00 and thats for 2 oil changes ....

this is what im doing in my 700XP Ranger.

My Dad has one of these and it's a real nice ATV. For the first oil change I used the Polaris 2W-50 and a Polaris filter. I'm not sure what my Dad paid for it but I'm sure it was overpriced. I'm sure the Polaris oil shears to a 40 weight anyway so I think I'm going to begin using Rotella 5W-40 and a Purolator motorcycle filter.
