plug-in seat heater?

I bought one for $31 off Amazon, waste of money it barely heated.
And if you forget to pull the plug it drains the battery.

The bimetal switches they use to limit max temperature are too inaccurate.
Some are placed directly on a heating wire. Other brands have higher temp ones off to the sides.

Their wattage/ heating potential is directly related to voltage reaching the pad itself.

Some have voltage dropping diode inside ciggy plug.

Ive no brand recommendations.

If one cant get them to consume 40+watts, and not just rapidly cycle on and off, they are useless wasters of electricity, time, money, materials, and the carbon used to ship them.

My success required fatter copper feeding higher voltage to pad, deleting bimetal switches and a digital t stat.

Likely better off with inverter feeding 115vAC heating pad.

I have one that I like, and ordered it from Amazon. It plugs into a cigarette socket and shuts off with the car. It had multiple temperature settings. I’ll dig it out of its summer storage and check the brand later.

My only problem was needing to constantly re-adjust it as it would not stay in one spot. It needs more clips and straps.

Good ones can be found.

My wife bought me one from somewhere, and I liked it. Had a low and high. It was a nice addition and I didn’t have any issues with it.
