Just an update. I did the plug change. The old plugs looked O.K. with some sign of wear. The color was very good, with slight 'erosion'. I think I'm about good for the rest of the life of the car(plugs anyway).
I'll skip messing with the O2 sensors. While doing some research I see guys saying '10 min job' to change the plugs on a Vibe. I'm at least in the mid levels mechanically but 10 min my behind. My longest deal was making up a plug socket with a rubber insert to hold the plug as it was removed. I had previously lost the rubber grommet that would hold so I used part of a bike tube to make it work.

Yes, I'm with Trav on this one RE: wide band O2 sensor. Why mince words when they are all referencing to the same thing?
