For close-up pictures you might try the macro function on your camera if you have not done so.

MB recommends changing OEM Bosch platinum plugs at 5 years/100k miles interval, I had '00 E430 plugs changed at 6.5 years with 80k miles. When all 16 plugs (yes, 2 plugs per cylinder of a V8 engine) were removed and showed to me, the mechanic told me that they were almost new and can be re-used for another 50 k miles. I already bought NGK plugs and decided to install the new ones.

If the plugs of that car were easily to remove and install myself, I would not discarded the OEM plugs. Most OEM plugs are very good, even after more than 100k miles. If you can remove just one plug, try to examine the condition to see if you need to replace it.
