Pickles!

We were cherry picking this past weekend, and the farm also had fresh pickling cucumbers, so I just made a jar of pickles, according to mom's recipe. Horseradish root, garlic, blooming dill, pepper corns, and brine. They'll be ready to eat in a few days.

From store bought stuff, one of my local super markets sells zesty pickles straight out of a barrel - they're great. Otherwise, I like Claussen kosher dill.

I love pickles.

I have been making my own pickles lately. Just slice cucumbers however you want, toss in a mason jar, add vinegar and water ( a little more vinegar than water) some salt, seasoning (dill, garlic, mustard seed, hot pepper slices, onions, etc.), add a screw type lid, shake and eat in as little as a few hours. They get better over time.

Around here, we'll do a fairly typical Bread 'n Butter pickle

and sometimes make a batch or two of lime pickles

For store bought, we'll grab some Famous Dave's Sweet 'n Spicy pickle chips.

Yeah buddy. I love a bread/butter recipe but on the tangy side, and then start adding red pepper flakes until good. I've made many many jars, and gave away many as gifts.

Another way is to do a normal pickle recipe, but throw in 1 fresh jalapeno.

Pickle green beans, carrots, bell peppers as well.
