Is this safe for use in my 2000 Nissan Sentra? The manual calls to use some Nissanmatic fluid, but Dextron III or the Dextron Mercon mix will also work. Driving to work yesterday the O/D light started flashing and the car surged. Checked fluid when I got to work and was low and the Phillips stuff is all the ONLY store out here had, and I figured it would at least be better than what I had which was nothing. The bottle says for all GM and Ford except those requiring dextron VI and the newest mercon, I cant use GL-5 in my car but the bottle dosent say what it is. Just wondering if I can leave it in there or if I have to change it out. If no one is sure I will just drain and replace it when I get off next week. Thanks..

Sounds like it should be fine. BTW, GL5 is a gear oil spec, and has nothing to do with ATF.

If your Nissan calls for Nissanmatic D, you are OK using Dexron III but if it calls for Nissmatic J, you need to use that fluid or one that says it meets that spec!

I should be okay than. The manual specifies Nissan Matic D. The bottle of Super ATF said it cover everything lower than Dextron VI but not Dextron VI.
