What’s the diff between the PF 30 and the 24. same motors through the years it seems to go back and forth On both oil filters, Now both are disco’d. Anyone ever cut open both for a comparison ? Thought the experts here may know.

PF24 was used on the Pontiac V8 and probably others starting in the late 1960s. From what I could determine with some searching, PF30 was used on Olds V8s in the early 1970s and was a bit longer than the PF24. I don't know if 30 has an anti-drainback valve, but 24 does. At some point in the '70s, PF24 started being recommended in place of PF30, to avoid having to stock as many different filters.

I have a few of both, they are the same size. I was looking to buy a Kmart oil filter,I see them at the swaps. Anyone know wich is a 24/30?

The two are the same height, this is the only 30 I have with the metallic looking decal. Even diff shade of blue on the 30’s
the 30 has a rubber part inside the 24 doesn’t have

More info. These are all my filters I have Here’s the 24 through the years. First would be white. Those are pricy. The box only chand like twice, not talking about the applications on the back. Those all all over depending what year the box was printed
( old Sh*t bucket pic, sorry)
