An Oz reporter collared an executive manager from Shell today, and was asking about petrol pricing.
Basically, we had a long weekend (Queens Birthday) last weekend, and prices rose up to 10c/l leading up to the long weekend...just like they always do.
It's always explained away as market forces. Govt claim there's nothing they can do.
Reporter finally asked why petrol rose two days before the long weekend in 6 states, but dropped in the 7th.
Was it because the 7th state didn't celebrate that long weekend, i.e. the 6 states where people were travelling paid more, while the business as usual state paid less.
It was priceless when the petro exec stated that he had no influence on fuel prices.
