Has anyone noticed the new jugs are not labeled "Made from Natural gas" whereas the older ones were?
Perhaps due to the Pearl GTL plant offline? Shell saving limited GTL base for Euro oils? Just opening up for discussion.

When did SOPUS stop marketing, or halt using, GTL base oil in Ultra Platinum? I guess with Pearl GTL Qatar getting hit, this may have been a proactive change.

I also noticed that Mobil 1 massively upped all their their pour points listed on the PDS'. For instance, Advance Clean 5W-30 now shows a very pedestrian -33C PP that was previously around -45C. But I could also be completely insane...

This has been discussed a bunch. It's still GTL. It's just a marketing change. Pennzoil didn't think people understood the significance of it, so they just removed it from the label.

There's also the disclaimers about variance in different production batches, different manufacturing locations, and subject to change without notice in Mobil's PDS documents.

The PDS spec still says its made from natural gas. Also, I think Ford Boss from YouTube called their tech support about this and they confirmed its still gas to liquid technology

Does the Platinum still have the silver caps? Probably just wanted a different color cap for a different quality of oil.

They changed the color of the cap. Can I still use it in my 15 year old BMW or is it no longer approved?
