MSDS is up and very recent (2/7/14) but still refers to the product a just Pennzoil Ultra. Comparing the common elements from the fresh MSDS to the old TDS suggests it's unchanged: flash point, pour point, and 40c Cst are identical. Still says the base stock is Fischer-Tropsch (GTL) derived and includes highly refined mineral oil only to dilute additives.

Is that gas-to-liquid process patented ?

Is there anything stopping other oil companies from adopting the same procedure ?

I thought Platinum/Ultra names were simple and to the point...why change it? If its just a name change I guess its marketing magic...
