Has anyone posted UOAs for Pennzoil 0w40 or even the 5w40 for the matter...I'm debating on these or Redline 5w40

Doh, ya, thanks.

Looks like a really good option.

The 5W40 has nearly the same viscosity at 40C as Castrol 0W40, and actually has LL-01. Just shows LL-01 is not a dead spec.

I am holding out for the EURO 0W40 SN PLUS which is not carried by CT.

Based on another thread, it would appear that the Motomaster Euro 0W40 is the same as the Penn 0W40. It's on sale now for $25 a jug.

I can be sure when I can see a TDS for this Motomaster oil.

That particular MM oil is not the Pennzoil, it must be the new jugs/label which are made by Shell. That older style jug I believe was made by Citgo.

Open question for all:

Out of curiosity, how many vehicles specified to use 229.5 habitually have issues with LSPI?

After I burn up my Mobil1 ESP I will be trying it out for my Hyundai turbo.

I had a VOA done on the Platinum Euro 5W-40 SN+ formula.

https://imgur.com/a/q38Bs0c

1292 PPM Calcium
1031 PPM Magnesium

According to this: https://www.infineuminsight.com/en-gb/articles/passenger-cars/quenching-low-speed-pre-ignition/
You want to be below 1000ppm Ca for best protection against LSPI, but 1292PPM is pretty good.

It is much better than my previous oil - UOA of Mobil 1 Euro 0W40 FS indicated 2800 PPM of Calcium.
This Pennzoil is the only VW502 and SN+ oil I have found.
I haven't actually switched over yet but will be doing that soon.

Let's beat the horse again: how many LSPI incidents are there involving Euro engines?

Nice. I've made the switch to this oil from M1 0w40 FS early this year. PP is cheap and meets all the specs I need (MB 229.5). SN+ is a bonus. I've been using it with a bottle of liquimoly mos2 every other oci.

Agree. The LSPI scaremongering is already appearing in some Euro-centric car forums and it's mostly from people who came from Asian or domestic brands.
