Pennzoil Lube Match

I was just poking around Pennzoil's site and noticed the Oil Selector at the bottom. For both my vehicles, it recommends Pennzoil conventional as the Standard choice. What struck me as odd was that it recommends Ultra as the Premium choice for my Saturn, but Platinum as the Premium choice for my Nissan.

Of course I realize the such utilities are useless tools, but I still found it strange. Just more confusion regarding Platinum and Ultra and the botched marketing around Ultra.

Interesting.....A few years ago I was on a similar online tool from Castrol. It recommended straight 30w for a certain climate/temp range. I found that odd at the time.

The problem is with the major oil companies there is a third party that is providing this recommendation service. Granted, the oil companies should do a better job of seeing what is posted on their behalf, but they don't.

As for as I'm concerned, the best recommendation site is the one Amsoil provides. Even though I don't use their products, I do use that service for product recommendations and capacities.
