When changing the oil on our 98 Chevy 2500 4x4 witht he 5.7L Vortec in it, I noticed some condensation (it isn't driven much) and also some orangish/rust colored powder looking stuff around the edges of the cap. Where the orange and condensation were mixed together, it was more like an orange goo. Truck has 140,000 miles on it, and had an intake gasket issue not that long ago that may have had something to do with residual water in the CC.
Then I changed oil in my mom's Jeep Liberty with the 3.7 in it, and it was the same way, save for any drops of condensation. It was a little bit of an orange slime, but is wasn't really wet, just barely. If it had been any drier it would have been like powder, and it was like powder around the edges. Switched oil to Motorcraft 5w-30 Syn Blend.
Both of these vehicles have always been taken to the Pennzoil quick lube in town, using 5w-30 Pennz bulk.
Any ideas?
