This oil filter was off a 22’ Ford Excape 1.5 SUV. Unknown miles and unknown oil used. I replaced the failed turbo and other components Monday. Oil looks sludgy obviously from blown turbo. After repaired I put in Safety Kleen 5w30 and a WIX 51348 oil filter. Drives great now; as I drove it to get parts, supplies few days last week. Vehicle is now sold. 75,544 on odometer at time of repairs.

I'd say it's more likely that a lack of oil changes by the owner resulted in sludge, which in turn caused the failure of the turbo, not that the turbo made the oil sludgy.
Not sure but you’re probably right. Diagnosis did show a bad turbo though. Didn’t find any records after vehicle was deactivated from our system so that’s a great unknown.

To update this, here is one of many broken turbo pieces I found. This is why we do proper diagnosis. Shaft is t supposed to be sheared off eh?
