Paint to make sights visible at night?

Trijicon HD sights have a large (glow in the dark) paint dot that’s protected by a clear overlay. It’s very bright in day light, glows for a while when it’s dark, and has a tritium tube in the middle when there is absolutely no light and you can’t charge the paint with a flashlight.

I personally have not used those paints (ultraglow) but know of about a dozen who have- they don't work well or last long.

FWIW the stories I keep getting are it doesn't work well on dark metal and flakes off

If you hear a bump in the night, you don't want to need to "charge" your sight paint in order to have sights visible. Glowing radiation for the win.
