2,685 miles, one year in service. 2005 Nissan frontier 4.0. I know, I know...."what a waste at those miles [etc.]" but it's on my my winter ride, so I do 1 year oci / ofci, no matter what.

No tears. ADBV soft as butter. I don't know what that squiggly looking clip is on top of the canister, but it looks cool!

Very easy to open: channel locks to pry the edge apart. First timer; made me dig through the trash to look for others to open, but no luck.

Only thing I don't like is the large spacing and somewhat wavy media for such low miles. [img:center]http://

Replaced with a TG.

Even though it probably doesn't affect filtering, I don't like those wavy pleats on a filter that's supposed to be 'premium'.

That's the spring for the bypass valve.

Good looking filter? That thing looked like it was trying to do the wave at a baseball game! IMO a good looking filter should at least have straight media.

Seems to be a moisture thing. The only ones that won't do it are the synthetic media filters. I had a Tough Guard that made this thing look straight in comparison that came out of my sister's Explorer.

Its' a "flat spring" design for the bypass valve.

Is that a tear in the 3rd picture, on the bottom, next to the seam? I'm debating whether to run my remaining P1s or donate/scrap them, they're GARBAGE!

Looks similar to the P1 PL14610 I just finished running 6700 miles posted here , also with no issues. Looking at the metal crimp design thinking yours might be the shorty 14612 version.

No tears, got the job done. Also appreciate the honesty of the change reason.

Thanks for the pics.

No. Made me look, though!

Also, I tried to provoke it to tear by roughly manhandling the widened pleats and endcaps, but it was surprisingly robust and did not tear (using reasonable force of course). So though it looks like a blowout or tearing was imminent, I don't think the evidence was there to make it happen.

If I had more, I'd run them, but certainly not beyond 5K miles.

I really wish they could tighten up those pleats near the seam!! It would eliminate any risk of tearing IMO.
