decreased ring seal in cold engine, high idle, reformulated/winterized fuels, longer idle times, increased fuel dilution,to name a few. Thats as technical as I can get.

Would the decreased ring seal in cold engines support a theory that an engine may consume/leak more oil in cold weather than in warmer weather?

Maybe I can blame the increased rate of consumption in my 98 Trooper on the cold weather. At this point, I have no idea what is causing it.
