My neighbor has a 1994 Camaro that she wants to sell. She is the original owner but the car is high mileage with 183,000 on the odometer.

I am completely unfamiliar with this type of vehicle and I'm curious if you guys think it's worth buying for $3,000.00? The only issues that I have found with the car are with some cooling system corrosion and the air conditioner doesn't work (compressor won't cycle). The lady bought the car when she turned 40 years old and she's the only person to use the car for the past 11 years.

All that I know about the car is that it's a 1994 Z28 with a automatic transmission.

Do any of you own this type of car and do you think it would be worth 3 grand to buy as a guinea pig for mechanical testing?

Really depends on it's condition and options. It could be worth 50% more, or 50% less... Check out Edmunds.com used car appraiser.

The LT1 can easily make 200k+, if taken care of. Only "gotcha" on this year is the sealed distributor, aka "optispark", which is less reliable than the purged one used later.

Thanks for the replies. I have been looking at autotrader.com to get a idea of what these cars are worth in my local area and they're all listed for at least $1000 more than this car.

I'm probably going to pass on this purchase though since the car isn't really something that I'd care to own. I just wanted to open the engine a bit and get a idea of how this engine and rear axle have faired over the course of 11 years being serviced with mineral oils and dealership recommended schedules.
