Well not sure if there are any Cash fans here, but I watched a special on Johny Cash tonight and saw portions of this video. It won numerous awards and is Johny's version of the nine inch nails song.

Give it a try, you just may enjoy it. I know I did.

P.S. There are three different formats it will play in. I used the middle option to work with Windows XP.

Thanks for the link Alloy. Have you heard cash sing his version of Depeche Mode's Personal *****?

Good video and crossover cover of Nine Inch Nails.

The movie, out last Friday, is not worth it however, IMO.

Myself, I want to go see Jarhead. Guess once a Marine.........always a Marine. Can't get it out of my blood, and honestly.........don't want to.

I really try to look at the creative/musical side of artists, and don't care much about their personal lives. If they make great music, I'll listen to it, and like it, no matter how many wives they had, or pills they took. It's not nice to insult a dead musician/any kind of artist, imo. I think Mr. Cash's version of "Hurt" is very good, and the fact that he covered a song by NIN shows his broader creativity.

Most brilliant musicians/bands had a dark side to their lives, which made their music so special and brilliant, and different from "I'm so happy, listen to me sing about it" stuff.
e.g.: Pink Floyd, Tool, Nina Simone, Tori Amos, Counting Crows (the first 3 albums), Soundgarden, Audioslave

When I first saw this video, I thought to myself that this video is an epilogue to Cash's life and consequently if this wasn't his last video, it was horribly self indulgent. Luckily Cash died within months of this video's release and therefore his credibility remained intact with Ron Jeremy.

And I'm sure when he died he was thinking "Gosh, I hope my credibility remains intact with a guy on a motor oil forum using the same moniker as the ugliest male porn star in history."

Johnny Cash is an American icon. Jouquin[sp?] Phoenix is a good actor. But Phoenix does not make a good Johnny Cash. He does not look, sound, act or perform like Johnny Cash and the people praising his performance are folks that aren't as well aquainted with Cash as some of us. Cash, up until recently was a living legend. The only person that could pull it off would have been Cash himself.

Having said that, the movie itself was decently made though innacurate for the sake of storytelling. I guess if it had been a fictional account of a fictional character I would have liked it. But I just keep smelling dollar signs everytime someone mentions it.
