Here’s a job I did this week. Shop manual calls for R&R engine and hydraulic pump to change the alternator at 26 hours book time. I pull the hood, cowl, exhaust stack and cooling package and have it down to about 10 hours. This machine has over 7,000 hours and often runs 24/7.

Dang. That’s interesting with the motor being sideways. Is that the original alternator?

Looks like a New Holland mini loader. Definitely not a place for a lifetime warranty replacement which seem to turn into a lifetime of replacements!

It's a crying shame the factory couldn't have installed the alternator towards the extreme top of the engine or way down below for easy access. It sounds like you made some good money by doing it in less time. Hopefully those filters are easily accessible.

No this is #3 for this machine. The first one lost bearings around 5000 hours, second one was a fire victim when the machine caught on fire around 6000 hours and this one simply quit charging.
What uses a loader 24/7 ? Plus that is a nice shop !
It runs in a production department loading sawdust into a bin. We make home heating pellets and components for grass seed products.
